You might be unsure whether additional coaching is right for you, which is absolutely fair enough! Whatever your goal or experience, my clients work with me for a huge variety of reasons and I will detail below some examples of players that I currently work with:
Player 1: 16 years old, player at Academy but attends a school that doesn't play rugby. Wants some extra support and coaching to continue to improve and play at a high level.
Player 2: 28 years old, amateur rugby player who hasn't played since he was 18. Wants some sessions to get back up to speed and ensure he is executing technique in a safe manner.
Player 3: 13 years old, talented rugby player keen to progress his rugby and make the County squad.
Player 4: 16 years old, loves rugby and wants the sessions for fun and to improve some skills.
Player 5: 35 years old, amateur rugby player who only recently took up the sport. Wants sessions to 'catch up' having not played growing up and so as to be able to play safely and effectively.
Player 6: 23 years old, used to play to a high standard but had a long break from the game due to injury. Targeting a return to professional rugby.
Player 7: Group of ten year olds who love the game and have small-group sessions with friends for enjoyment and to improve their skills. One of the boys keen to play for his school 'B' Team.
Edd provided a series of 1-2-1 coaching sessions last summer for my 14 year old son, a hooker at a very strong rugby school. The principal purpose of the sessions was to try to perfect the fine art of throwing in at the line-out. Edd knew immediately that the sessions could incorporate general skills appropriate to my son as well as throwing in. The sessions made a huge difference to his performances. School rugby reports subsequently described his throwing in to the line-out as 'superb', whilst the improvements in terms of general rugby awareness and skillset were huge. Edd has the priceless ability to communicate clearly to young rugby players, to develop a rapport in the process, and to turn them into better players." - Parent, FEBRUARY 2020
Our 13 year old son wanted to brush up on his rugby before going off to boarding school, so we did some research and found Edd via Google. He absolutely loved his one on one lessons with Edd - not only was it great exercise but the one on one lessons really helped him fine tune his rugby skills. We would highly recommend Edd for helping with your child's rugby on any level. We will be using him again!" - Parent, JANUARY 2020
Edd, I wanted to let you know that *** won the Most Improved Player of the Season Award at his club. Thank you again for your help" - Parent, JULY 2018
We are just back from the end of season tour. **** has had a great year and the improvement in his game has been recognised at club and school. He is now used as an example to show others how to pass so thank you for all your help this season." - Parent, MAY 2018
Thanks so much for helping ******** during the half term. In the match on Saturday he looked so much more confident and had great feedback from his teacher." - Parent, NOVEMBER 2017
Edd, a very big thank you for **** training session - I was super impressed by your approach and methods - not knowing anything about rugby but knowing how **** learns best and how you tailored the lesson to suit him. What he learnt certainly stuck" - Parent, MAY 2017
I am an adult rugby player who came late to the game - my career started in my 30s! I love playing but wanted desperately to improve my skills, technique and knowledge. Edge Rugby's 1-2-1 coaching gives me the opportunity to ask all those questions I am too afraid to ask in front of all the seasoned regulars at my club, and then to work on those key areas. My fitness, ability, and, most importantly, my enjoyment of the game have improved massively since the coaching started. The sessions represent excellent value and are always pitched to be sympathetic to my skill and fitness levels whilst pushing both areas to make sure I make safe but incredibly satisfying progress. Edd Conway is absolutely at the top of his game and I would recommend his services without question." - Client, AUGUST 2016
I enjoy working with Edd because he coaches me to self-evaluate my rugby while helping me improve my playing. We work on the basics but I also get to choose specific skills and areas I want to focus on. He has successfully coached many different rugby sides and age groups so has lots of experience to share. My rugby is better because of Edd's coaching." - Client, MAY 2016
My son has been training 1-2-1 with Edd for the past year and loves it. Edd is great about working around injuries and honing in on improving specific rugby skills. His training sessions are the perfect combination of encouragement and hard work. Edd’s vast rugby experience both as a player and a coach helps him easily relate to my rugby player.
As a parent, I find Edd to be reliable, organized and extremely knowledgeable. I appreciate his good communication and easy manner. He’s a terrific coach!" - Parent, MAY 2016
Edd is a knowledgable coach with an excellent understanding of both the game and the individual needs of players. He is clearly passionate about rugby and it is this commitment to the game and how it should be played that sets Edd apart from other coaches. My own son has directly benefited from not only improving his technical skills through working with Edd but he also gained a greater appreciation and love for the game though this contact with Edd." - Parent, APRIL 2016
After a long break from the game I sought out Edd for some extra coaching to prepare me for my return. Not only did I start the season fitter and faster but I believe I also made technical improvements that have improved me as a player and helped me to think about the game differently." - Client, FEBRUARY 2016
Thanks for the impact and transformation your coaching has made to *****'s game. He's really enjoying playing rugby this term and his kicking has come on leaps and bounds. It's lovely to see his growing confidence." - Parent, JANUARY 2016
Edd has coached my son at both the camps and on a 1:1 basis. He has also coached players from the youth team that I run at ****** RFC. I would highly recommend Edd as a coach and Edge as a coaching organisation based on these experiences. The group sessions / camps that Edd has run have been well organised and structured to ensure skill development is at the core of process while remaining fun. The boys I know that have attended have always benefited and really enjoyed them.
On a 1:1 basis Edd has been excellent in developing my son's skill set, understanding of the game and mental strength. He has shown a genuine interest in improving ****'s development and has been a big influence over a number of years." - Parent, MAY 2015
Since working with Edd on a partnership with the King's Sport Performance Programme and Edge Rugby I have been inspired by his passion and knowledge around rugby and his ability to get the most out of people. I would highly recommend Edd who has shown the ability to constantly evolve and get stronger as a coach." - Edward Young, Performance Co-Ordinator at King's College London, MAY 2015
I first met Edd a few years ago when he started Edge Rugby, and my son has been attending every rugby camp since then and even a few personal training sessions. Edd is a very dynamic and enthusiastic professional who shows excellent managing skills and is a very pleasant person to work with." - Parent, APRIL 2015
Edd, thanks so much for your work with ****, he has progressed noticeably in the past few months and has loved every session. Delighted to let you know that his Rugby Scholarship application was successful and he'll be starting at the new school next year - your reference was much appreciated." - Parent, NOVEMBER 2014
Thank you for a great session with the boys on Saturday. With a new coach there is always a little trepidation as to how they will relate to the boys but I can confidently say that your ability to plug into the minds of both kids and the way you were able to explain complex instructions in a way that they could follow and carry through immediately was in my opinion the making of the session. The boys both had a fantastic time and as an observer and hearing the feedback from both lads I can tell you they gained a tremendous amount from it. They are straining at the leash for more and from what I saw on Saturday they will be better players by the end of the Summer with your help.” - Parent, JULY 2014
